Repenting to Allaah

“Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring the comfort of our eye…”

At the end of Surah Al-Furqan, Allah gives the characteristics of the slave of Ar-Rahman, and one of the beautiful characteristics is a du’a that the slave makes for his wives and his children:

25_74

“And those who say: “Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqun” (25:74)

From Tafseer ibn Kathir; “means those who ask Allah to bring forth from their loins offsprings who will obey Him and worship Him and not associate anything in worship with Him. Ibn ‘Abbas said: “This means (offsprings) who will strive to obey Allah and bring them joy in this world and the Hereafter.” (At-Tababri 19:318)

Ibn ‘Abbas and others added “Leaders who would be taken as examples in good.” (At-Tabari (19:319)

Others added: “Guides who would call others to goodness.” They wanted their worship to be connected to the worship of their children and offspring, and their guidance to go beyond themselves and benefit others. This would be more rewarding and a better end, as it was recorded in Sahih Muslim from Abu Hurayah, May Allah be pleased with hi, that the Messenger of Allah (100) said: “When a son of Adam dies, his deeds cease apart from three: a righteous child who will pray for him, knowledge from which others benefit after him, or an ongoing charity.”

Our forefather, Ibraheem ( Alayhi Salaahtu Was Salaam), spent quality time and taught his two sons, Ismail and Ishaq, to be obedient to Allah.  They observed how steadfast in worship and obedience to Allaah their father was during the many hardships that he faced and took lessons form that.  He too made Du’a for righteous offspring:

“O my Lord! Make me one who performs As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and (also) from my offspring, our Lord! And accept my invocation.” (Qur’an 14:40)

Allah is the Hearer of Du’a…

What is Tawheed?

Tawheed (Oneness of Allah) is the foundation of our religion that which everything else is built upon. In fact, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) spent 23 years of his mission focusing and calling his nation to the Oneness of Allah. If we truly understood, implemented and gave importance to Tawheed in the same manner as the Messenger (peace be upon him) did to his companions then we would find tremendous success and goodness within our lives. However, if we neglect this fundamental concept and abandon understanding it then that will only lead to failure and destruction in our lives. Therefore, the question arises: what is Tawheed?

Take a moment to learn about the most important aspect of our religion in an easy to read question and answer format.

Why does evil happen?

Many times we are tested with difficult situations and are left to wonder – why did Allah allow this to happen? But what we don’t realize is that Allah puts us in “tough” situations in order to help us develop our character and strengthen our reliance in Him.

In this brief Q&A Shaykh Albaani, may Allah have mercy on him, provides an insightful response as to why Allah allows “evil” to occur.  Take a moment to benefit and share with others. You never know, someone maybe going through some type of trial and perhaps this article can uplift their imaan.

Keep Striving my Brothers and Sisters…May Allaah make us steadfast on the right path. Ameen

11:112

So stand (ask Allah to make) you (Muhammad SAW) firm and straight (on the religion of Islamic Monotheism) as you are commanded and those (your companions) who turn in repentance (unto Allah) with you, and transgress not (Allah’s legal limits). Verily, He is All-Seer of what you do. ( Qu’ran: 11:112)

11:113

And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped. (Qu’ran 11:113)

To Allaah Belongs the Dominion of the Heavens and the Earth…what more do we need to hear?

3_189

And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Allah has power over all things.

3_190

Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding.

3_191

Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): “Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.

3_192

“Our Lord! Verily, whom You admit to the Fire, indeed, You have disgraced him, and never will the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) find any helpers.

3_193

“Our Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one (Muhammad SAW) calling to Faith: ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and remit from us our evil deeds, and make us die in the state of righteousness along with Al-Abrar (those who are obedient to Allah and follow strictly His Orders).

3_194

“Our Lord! Grant us what You promised unto us through Your Messengers and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection, for You never break (Your) Promise.”

3_195

So their Lord accepted of them (their supplication and answered them), “Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female. You are (members) one of another, so those who emigrated and were driven out from their homes, and suffered harm in My Cause, and who fought, and were killed (in My Cause), verily, I will remit from them their evil deeds and admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); a reward from Allah, and with Allah is the best of rewards.”

That peaceful feeling…

13_28

Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.

We forget that to Allaah belongs this Dominion.  He is the Owner of the Day of Judgement.  He is the One who answers our calls.  We have to believe in His decree, Love what He loves and hate what He hates.  We have been commanded to remember Him with much remembrance:

33_41

O you who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance. (Al-Ahzab:41)

When the heart feels at unease, when it feels insecure, when it feels disturbed; we only have to realize that our return is to Allaah.  How can we go wrong by remembering our Creator at times of hardship, and thanking Him in times of ease?  A heart that remembers its Creator, with humbleness, submissiveness and love of its Creator is a heart that is content, Insha’Allaah.

It has taken me a while to find that contention, mostly cause I am fighting the evilness of my soul.  It is a constant fight that I am in, but I learn that the more I pick up His book, and learn about Him, the more I love Him.  The more that I get to know Him, the more that I trust Him.  The more that I trust Him, the more I feel secure with Him.

He, the One who is due all praise, is my Lord and the Judge in all my affairs.  I’ve left everything to Him, cause I realize that I am only but a servant to Him.  Ya Rabbul Alameen, grant me the opportunity to remember You often and make me die as Your obedient slave on the Sunnah of your beloved Prophet (SAWS).  Ameen

Grant me a place in Tuba in Paradise. (Ameen)

Is it me or them???

A brother came to me and said about a certain matter: “No way in hell is this happening, it’s over! It will never happen!”  I said:

وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

He has power over everything

I’m not going to let their lack of Eeman or trust in Allaah dictate my trust and belief in my Lord.  If I believed like they believed, surely I too would be dangling from the fangs of Ribaa, and acts of innovations would be in my side pockets: some in the right and some in the left.

I swing between loving Him, fearing Him, and having hope in Him.

How many times have I been chastised for doing what was right in my life; for practicing the Sunnah, leaving off unlawful earnings, and seeking closeness to Him?  “You are not the sahaba, the times are different!” they said. I said ” I believe in my Lord,” and I stood firm in my way-cause I had trust in Him.

It is so important to have the right people around you, those who encourage you to righteous actions and calling to Allaah with sincerity.  “Roll out that prayer mat brother, you’re going to need it.”  That alone takes trust, cause I was in the darkness at one time, and someone might have said “you will never see the light!”

وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

He has power over everything

I take paths that have not been traveled, and clear my own way towards the road.  I’ve done that again and again.  Sometimes I’ve failed, and there have been valuable lessons in that failure.  Often, I had veered off of obedience to my Lord.  Often, I had strayed away from His warnings, which I was well aware of, but continued to let the shaitan trick me.

He’s bought me back to Him again and again.  All praise is to Him. Made me realize that I need Him. Period! I’ve realized, with humbleness and submissiveness, how He controls all of our affairs. Nothing, nothing happens without His permission and His knowledge. He is the All Knower of everything.

He is to us how we think of Him.  To me, He is my Friend and my Protector. I seek refuge in Him from the pains and the anguish of worldly affairs. I also thank Him and beseech His help in seeking the good from this dunya and the akhira.

Ya Rabbul Alameen. Make my reckoning easy for me and forgive my sins. (Ameen)
